Yankee Photographer Proves Worth

Alison Birk is a native of Michigan and a graduate of St. Bonaventure University in western New York. There she studied journalism. After working at The Buffalo News and The Detroit News, she moved to Mississippi and took a job at The Clarion-Ledger. She now works as a page designer at The Clarion-Ledger, but photography is her real passion.

Not surprisingly, her style is photojournalistic. She prefers to catch candid life moments over posed shots ... And in no better setting than a wedding can candid moments be caught on film and remembered.

I was lucky enough to work with this woman during a shoot in Vicksburg, Miss. Her approach and style are superb, and her ability to work with the subjects is outstanding. A real asset to have ... although I hate that she will soon by my COMPETITION! :)

I wish her the best of luck, and I hope to have her services for another wedding or two before she sets sail on her own!

Ahhh, Vicksburg!!

I was able to spend a full day with up-and-coming photographer Alison Birk at a wedding event in Vicksburg, Miss. at the BB Hall.

It was a beautiful affair, and working alongside Birk was quite a treat.

A pending ice storm kept us on our toes, though there wasn't much opportunity for us to use the brick streets or the majestic Mississippi River.

All in all, it was a wonderful event and the images turned out fabulous.

A Southern Wedding

As the first post on this blog, I welcome visitors to von Images, and would like to invite everyone to view my portfolio and photographs from von Images.

Working as a photojournalist has brought many fun days to my life. The events are spectacular, but it's the look on a bride or groom's face when they see the images I produced for them. Or, the welling of the eyes from the mother of the bride when she sees the documentary of her daughter's big day caught in photos.

I invite you to share your stories with me, and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

This blog isn't just for photography ... it's for fun. You'll find stories, current events, even recipes that you won't find anywhere else.

Let the fun begin.
