Hodge event the toast of the town!

It's always nice for a photographer to get to know a bride, and her family, as well. In the case of the Hodge family from Rankin County, Mississippi ... it was a joy to be able to spend time with such good people.

From the bride's family's hospitality, to the groom's family's fun and laid back personalities, this event was sho-nuff fun.

VIP Catering was on hand with some tasty treats for the more than 50 guests. There was even a string ensemble providing musical selections for guests and the bridal party to dance a bit on the portable dance floor. (This provided some fun shots, too!)

Weddings at private locations offer so much for the photographer, and the client. In this case, I think it worked out perfectly. ;)

Yazoo Bound

This will be a first for von Images ... a trip to 'almost' Delta country to Quiet Shades Plantation in Evans, Mississippi.

Miss Molly Langley and Mr. Chase Nicholson will exchange vows on the evening of May 23.

I'm excited to shoot this event, and even more excited for Molly and Chase. This should be a day for all to remember for years to come.

I'll post photos at the conclusion of the event as I try out my new laptop! :)

Pennsylvania couple takes in ALL of Mississippi!

Amanda and Kevin Shinal were the perfect bride and groom for a chilly January wedding in central Mississippi.

Luckett Lodge was the backdrop for a mid-winter Southern wedding, Mississippi style!

Amanda, who is originally from the area, treated her out-of-town guests (many of which had no notion of anything Southern) to some down-home hospitality and a taste of the South by taking them to Mama Hamil's.

So, with a good feel for what things are like Down South, it was a pleasure to see everyone in the bridal party and the guests enjoy themselves immensely while at Luckett. (I'm sure Angie and Jeff had a grand time!)

The lodge is a quaint little venue nestled in the backwoods of Rankin County just off of Holly Bush Road and Mississippi Highway 25 North.

The night was capped off, after a small ceremony in a chapel on the grounds, with a catered meal by VIP Events ... Remarquable!

Thanks for a memorable, and pleasurable event, Mr. and Mrs. Shinal! ;)

Greenwood: Hot Wedding!

Took a drive last month up to Greenwood, and if anyone has any doubts about if the Mississippi Delta gets hot in the summer, let me provide a testimonial:

It's hot ... really hot.

But, the event wasn't hampered too much by the heat, even during the beautiful outdoor reception at a private home on a little river (or a big creek). Great live music, outstanding food, and plenty of happy faces for the camera.

All in all, it was a fabulous day, though the drive home required a change of shirt ... a dry one! ;)

Mynelle Gardens in the Spring!

Time and time again, Mynelle Gardens in Jackson (Miss.), located off of Clinton Blvd., delivers a superb backdrop for any photo event I book.

For Collin and Katie, one really couldn't ask for anything more (other than more daylight) ;)

From the ceremony to the reception down at the Mississippi Museum of Art in downtown Jackson, the entire event was as much fun as I've had while working in a long, LONG time.

Stay tuned for photos from the event ... and you'll see what I'm talking about!

A Wedding at the Rez!

I have one of those odd-day weddings this week, with an event slated for Friday at the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Ridgeland, Miss.

The couple is just finishing up their Associates Degree requirements from Hinds Community College, and tying the knot before jumping into a four-year school.

JJ and Shea are hoping for lots of candid shots, but have voiced that they would like to have shots that no one else could have ... I think JJ described it as 'frame filler' like the shots you see in magazines or in photo frames bought from stores.

Outdoor events always offer fun scenes, and there will surely be plenty of opportunities for great photographs.

Will post a few of the shots once the photos are imaged.

New Website ... What do you think?

After much time, effort and frustrations ... we have finally moved forward on a new Website design. I would really like to know what you guys feel about it, and welcome any and all critiques!

Much thanks to BEP in Hotlanta! Thanks, dude ... it's awesome!

I'm offering more and more each year to my clients. In 2008, we're offering more designs on memory books, more time at events and 100 percent control given to the client.

It's getting warmer outside, so I'm eager to get out and shoot ...

2008 Gearing to be Hot Year

There is much to be said about New Year's wisdom in this industry. From all signs, it looks to be a fantastic year.

From metallic papers to custom-made coffee-table books, the new technology is outstanding.

I'll get started in March with my first event of the season ... and I can't wait to hit the streets of Vicksburg again for what is sure to be a lovely event.

Beautiful Bride ... do you want your photos? ;)

Happy ... Ummm ... Happy

These were the words to describe this beautiful bride in Brookhaven, Mississippi earlier this year. The wedding was beautifully set at a bed and breakfast in the downtown area of Brookhaven. Everyone had a lovely time, and she made my shoot very easy. She's gorgeous! Even her fiance had a little swagger going, and he was dapper and a true gentleman.
